Finland installs tinted LED street light
The first new street lights were installed in Helsinki, Finland, and the color temperature of these lights can vary throughout the day.
Foreign media reported that this week, a 2km section of the Kruunuvurenranta suburb opened 45 street lights - its color temperature changed from an icy 5000K to a warm 3000K.
If the next batch of plans to install 1000 street lights will go through the next 12 months, this project will likely become Europe's most massive color-codeable street lighting project.
The idea behind the project - including complex dimming programs - is to help alleviate the impact of long winter nights on residents' emotions. The concept was put forward by the London lighting design studio Speirs + Major in a design competition for a new residential area.
In the early afternoon, the lights were set to a cool 5000K, which turned into a warm 3000K in the evening. Later, the weather became cooler and then adjusted to 4000K, and at 11 pm it rose to 5000K.
